Sam Morgan Moore
Morning all :) So I'm doing a job on a BMC 4k - 90% will be sticks or whatever but Im thinking some moving shots on my Steadicam Pilot. Anyway simply the BMC4k has SDi out and my Pilot is Component/Composite (I dont really know the difference) I have the origninal pilot monitor and also a small (analogue) Transvideo monitor - which I far prefer due to brightness. Is this what I need to see. http://www.decimator.com/Products/Decimator2/decimator2.html Also I have an HDMI SmallHD DP6 which I use with sticks - again would that work? Thanks SMM Edited August 18, 2014 by Sam Morgan Moore
Premium Members Jarrett P. Morgan Posted August 18, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 18, 2014 Sam,The decimator is indeed what you would use to convert the HDSDI to composite video. There are other products out there as well (blackmagic makes one, as does Aja) but I personally am quite fond of the decimator. And you are correct that the decimator will also provide you with a HDMI to use with your smallHD.
Sam Morgan Moore
Thank you for the reply The BlackMagic boxes don't offer (AFAIK) composite and HDMI which is why the decimator seems to be the thing. Two additional questions.. Do you know if it works at both 24/5p Do you know how to power it - I guess it is Dtap to custom connector Does it have an internal battery Thanks. Premium Members Michael Hauer Posted August 21, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 21, 2014 Hey Sam, The decimator does not have an internal power or any included cables beyond the AC power included. You could strip the AC end and build a cable with 4 pin xlr or a connector of your choice or if you have a dtap somewhere you could just buy this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D0HPTRO/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=

Premium Members Jarrett P. Morgan Posted August 22, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 22, 2014 I think it is actually a 2.1mm DC plug (5.5mm OD). Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Premium Members Emmanuel Dinh Posted August 27, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 27, 2014 Yes it is 2.1 mm, and I think the Decimator could be powered by the Pilot DC output as well.
