Jules Bushell Posted August 21, 2014 Report Share Posted August 21, 2014 Hi, We've just gone past the one year anniversary of running Blur the Line workshops (held weekly). I set this up to be a hub for filmmakers and actors getting together to film scenes that get as close as possible to cinema quality. My philosophy is practise makes perfect and the last 5% you need that makes a difference to be a success, you'll get there, provided you put all that effort in. Our first Blur the Line, was simply a camera and a couple of actors. A year later, we have a full crew, a range of cinema quality equipment; full lighting set-up, rigs from tracks, dollies, jibs, sound/boom/wireless, and actors queuing to play parts in the scenes. Footage now coming out of the workshops wouldn't look out of place in the cinemas. We've also been filming in different locations too to fit each scene (e.g. political in the pic above). People are collaborating to make short films from the networking opportunities from the workshops. I am filming scenes for a feature project for a trailer and for pre-production. BUT WE'VE NEVER WORKSHOPPED WITH A STEADICAM (OR OTHER STABILISER SYSTEM). So this is an invite to camera steadicam operators who have their own rig (any stabiliser system) and camera (if no camera, can use mine), to come down and film a scene on Thursday 28th August 7pm. The scene is just for practise, not part of any short film or project. You can have the footage afterwards for your showreel or for your education. The location is in Blackfriars, London. We have the whole ground floor to ourselves and consists of a hall, leading to a restaurant. There are stairs and corridors that can be used too. Did I mention that it's all informal and great fun? That's a really great idea, you are correct practice practice practice is the way we improve and also learning from other people different ways of doing things, methods and techniques.
