Premium Members Aaron Medick SOC Posted September 2, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 2, 2014 Hi Peoples, Who makes a MDR3 bracket that keeps it right side up and mounts to the PRO DB3? Thanks

Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted September 3, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2014 Preston makes it. No good for Cinelive upper J box. I'd probably sell mine if you want it.
Premium Members Thomas English Posted September 3, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2014 Optical Support in the UK make a very good one. It has the ability to quick release slide the mdr3 fore and aft and remove it to put onto a speedy clamp for camera mounting in a jiffy. Premium Members Aaron Medick SOC Posted September 3, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2014 Brian can you shoot me a picture of the interference? Thomas - can you point me at some pictures of the optical support bracket? In a very short iPhone search I didn't find it on their site. Thanks. Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted September 3, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2014 No pictures handy, I can try to get one later. If you have Cinelive electronics I recommend the Pro bracket that hangs the MDR upside down. The problem is the Cinelive upper J box is larger than previous J boxes. It is both wider and longer, longer being the issue here, as the front of it is closer to the MDR. Even then, there's still barely enough clearance for cables on an MDR2, or the Pro MDR3 bracket. But the Preston MDR3 bracket puts the dovetail in the middle of the MDR, rather than the edge. So that puts the MDR even closer to the J box. There is no clearance for cables. 90 degree connectors would solve the issue. I had to mount the MDR3 backwards to use 90 degree motor cables. That works, but becomes an issue with power and on/off cable length, and with accessing buttons by the motor cables. So your best bet is 90 degree on/off and power cables, or a different bracket. I am curious about the optical support one now.
Premium Members Aaron Medick SOC Posted September 3, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2014 I see. I think. I'll just wait for Jerry Hills Bracket. Though, I will look further into the optical support bracket. FYI. Neither PRO nor Preston are currently offering a bracket. Thanks Gents!! Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted September 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 4, 2014 That's interesting, just bought mine from Preston in June. I knew Pro stopped, but I know someone who might be selling one if you are interested. What's Jerry's design?
Premium Members Thomas English Posted September 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 4, 2014 Best to email Optical support or they can post a picture here themselves. I can vouch that its an awesome bracket but it is not on their site.
Premium Members Aaron Medick SOC Posted September 4, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted September 4, 2014 I haven't seen jerry's design. But I'm yet to be disappointed with anything he's made so I'll wait. I'll email OS for pics and info.

Premium Members John Perry SOC Posted October 14, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 14, 2014 I saw Jerry's mdr3 bracket prototype on Friday and I just gotta say that this is a must-have! Brilliant design! I love the easy quick-release to go quickly to handheld configuration and it will mount in any orientation to accomodate connectors, etc. I can't wait til this is ready!
