Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted September 9, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 9, 2005 Here is Jerry Holway riding the segway converted for steadicam use. that will add to the shot-possibilities we can offer now. Think following bicycle or running people , now let´s combine that with an Alien and go from low mode to high mode....

Premium Members Matias Mesa Posted September 9, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 9, 2005 How did he modify it, What did he do to make this Segway steadicam friendly. Its amazing!!
Premium Members Brad Grimmett Posted September 10, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 10, 2005 You steer with your toes. It's very easy. There is a support bracket that wedges between your legs for balance. It's pretty brilliant. It wasn't created for steadicam, but it sure works pretty darn good with it. mattmarek
wonder if there's a way to hard mount it to the segway post? would hate to be going along at a nice pace and some stupid sensor to go and throw you onto the ground or lose balance... :o
Premium Members Mikko Wilson Posted September 10, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 10, 2005 Matt and ..Matt, Good news for both of you: There is a attachment point on the segway for accesories, there is discussion of a bossible hardmount onto there. They are still working on it and figuring out stuff like this, and then the cost, which is ballparked by Frank to be somewhere under $20,000.. When Tiffen begins to sell it, So they would definatly be the best peopel get get hold of for more information ... but is is a product once they get decided on a few things. - Mikko

I was told by the guy that created it that the backup will kick in immediately if there is any problem with the main computer. The backup is part of what makes it so expensive. So it sounds like the possibility of a crash caused by a malfunction is unlikely.

Best to all matias Mesa <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Matias, Give Tiffen a call. They would be able to get you in contact with the creator. You may be able to rent it directly from him, or through Tiffen. Premium Members Tom Wills Posted September 11, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 11, 2005 Really, That's one of the more incredible Steadi-related devices I've seen. It's also possibly the coolest thing I could actually spend that kind of money on that's not a car. :P Hmm... Where did I put that homebuilt Segway tutorial again?

Premium Members Matias Mesa Posted September 12, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 12, 2005 One is able to step on and off the standard Segway so I don't see why you coudln't doit from the SteadiSegway unless you hard mounted ofcourse. I will demo one tomorrow and will probably end up buying one. Hope I don't kill myself. Best
