Anyone ever heard of TILTA Wireless Follow Focus?

Recommended Posts

My name is Brendan and I am looking to get my first wireless follow focus system. I came across this TILTA wireless system and it seems to be reasonable.

http://www.tilta.com/product/d-50-_en.html

Was wondering if anyone has heard of it and/or even have experienced this system. Please let me know, would love to get some feedback.

Thanks so much,

Brendan

I'm on a group buy for that remote . It's been delayed and we just get some random update on it's status. No shipping dates yet.

IKAN is the distributor in the US, you could call them.

Performance, reliability, customer service .... All of this won't be available for a while.... If you need something in the next year, I would strongly recommend looking at other vendors.

Cheers.

Hi Brendan,

If you want as many features as the Tilta promises , you then have to look at Arri, Preston, C-motion. If you just need a reliable no-frills unit, the digital bartech is still high on my list. Lots and lots of new contenders today (heden carat/axis1/microremote...) and I have not tested half of them so I won't comment.

I have used extensively Preston's, Arri , C-motion, Bartech and would recommend each one for a different reason, you will find most of the answers on the forum.

Hope that helps, good luck.

Frederic

I've got a full blown Cmotion White (Arri) Radio Cvolution system for sale on this forum. Can be purchased as a complete two handset FIZ system with the works or as a single handset FIZ system. Most items are new/unused and the rest is pristine. Selling for much less than new. A great way to get into a professional, rock solid lens control system for way less than new. I love my Cmotion systems (I have three) and so do assistants. The White radio handsets talk directly to compatible Arri cameras without the need for an MDR (and there is an MDR in the package to work with all other cameras). Check it out in the Marketplace on this forum. Email me with any questions.

Video looks very interesting. I'd have to get my hands on the unit to know for sure what I like and don't like. The functions look nice. The touchscreen scares me a little. I worry about how rugged it will be as I do with all my gear. I'm not a big fan of the design of the handset. Doesn't look very comfortable but I could be wrong. Depends on the weight, obviously.

I'm pretty finicky. I have to put a follow focus system through it's paces for a while before I am sold. I have to see how it behaves in strange situations. What happens when the batts die? That may seem like a dumb question but it can be an issue. I tried a focus system that would spin the focus motor to minimum focus when the brain lost contact with the handset. I refused to use it based solely on that one issue. That's a recipe for disaster.

All that said, I would wait and see. It might be fantastic.
