Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted February 10, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 10, 2004 Found a couple Pictures of the rare PanaGlide. When I went to Panavision, while I was researching all aspects Steadicam, a while back, I was told that the PanaGlide never existed... Looks very real to me. Any stories popping up concerning the good old Glide? Any PanaGlide Operators care to share some stories, pictures? One of the latest Movies was Shot using the PanaGlide... Guessed it? The original "The Matrix" (1999) was shot in Australia with it. Watch the behind the scenes...

Premium Members Stephen Murphy Posted February 10, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 10, 2004 Didnt Dave Luckenbach use the Panaglide for a lot of "Identity"? (according to the ICG mag he did). Presumably it was just to keep his regular rig out of the massive rainstorm they had going on outside the set? Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted February 10, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 10, 2004 Looking at it, I like to say that Panavision had a similar setup of all the parts as today´s High Tech Rigs. It was already slim-lined, a bit similar as a Hill-rig, a Bearbel or a Pro 1. It was for sure ahead of it´s time, in design. A pity that all the accessories that we appreciate nowadays were not available or invented at that time. IanMcMillan
Hi Erwin, I'm not sure about the Panaglide on matrix. If the operarator was Robby Aganus, the the rig is a home made affair. He is into engineering. Can't say I've seen the rig. Back to panaglide pics, there was a great one on the forum some time back of Steve Martin holding one during the Jerk. Premium Members David Allen Grove Posted February 11, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 11, 2004 How about this one with John Stamos. It was interesting.. he seemed to have a natural instinct for operating Steadicam (at least suiting up). Either that or he had a good instructor :) BTW who was the operator in the Prince Charles picture?
Mitch Gross
David, the picture in your post doesn't come up on my computer.

Premium Members David Allen Grove Posted February 12, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 12, 2004 Oops--link says page not available. Somethin's going on here... That happens when too many people access the page in a certain amount of time. It's the price you pay for getting free webspace. I'll try and upload the images. :) ok.. how do you do that? NO... don't tell me, I'll figure it out. BTW: The Steadicam Guild website is back up and running with extra stuff. I still need to add pictures of some of our guild meetings but.. it's a start http://www.steadicamguild.net enjoy.
