Why don't you get a blank battery plate for the bottom of your PRO and hard bolt the gyros into that?

Interesting to see how you finally go about it. I've got a gyro job tonight.

Had Pete Rob's out for the last two days in 25 mph wind. Those and a windbreak were bang on! Nearly dolly smooth whilst actors' hats were flying. They're priceless.

Hi guys, do you have any tips or pictures you can share of the brackets you had made for the KS 6x6. I'm trying to work out the best way to mount them to the bottom of a Pro with the gen3 battery hanger... I'm not convinced about swapping out the battery plate, but if it's working for anyone else I might go with that.

Cheers,

Brad.

Hi Brad. Optical Support have found a way to do it and are manufacturing a bracket which replaces the centre battery. Try them at info@opticalsupport.co.uk.

Thanks James. I've spoken to Optical Support, their solution looks good. I'll post up here when I get it.

Just to let everyone know, there are 2 locations in Great Britain that make mounts for most, if not all styles of Steadicam for mounting gyros. Optical Support is one, and MK-V is the other.

If anyone has other questions about Kenyon gyros, you can email me direct at randy@kenyongyro.com

Whats the panning rate on the 6x6? I couldn't find anything on this.

Pretend an average Alexa build / 6x6 at the bottom of the rig. Can anyone tell?

Do I remember correctly whip pans are possible but will hurt the gyros? I guess thats still true for the 6x6/8x8 versions?

Appreciate any input!

Hi Fabian. I have the Optical support mount with the 6x6 gyros now. Haven't tested them on the rig yet but whilst hand holding them the pan rate feels slower than the standard 6's. I may be wrong but it seems that they slip sooner. Whips would be very hard to do accurately. As soon as they slip the rig jumps into a pan. I've not pulled it off successfully - maybe others have.
