Nils Ruinet
On the Fedex Website, www.fedex.com , go to "International tools" and then "Estimate duties and Taxes". You have to register first, but it's quick and free. Then you can try to estimate the cost of the duties and taxes. What you need to know is : - Country where the item was manufactured - Weight - Origin and destination countries - Customs value (the price, I guess...) - The most difficult to find : the "Harmonized code". This is the category which your item belongs to. Having not tested yet, I'm not sure, but it could be the code "9007910000" (or "90079100", it's the same, depends on the country you live in), meaning "parts and accessories for cameras". Just type "cinema" in the box, and then click "get code", you'll get a list with a few choices, chose this one. By the way, thank you to Dean at steadyrig Australia (very nice and helpfull guy, really) who took the time to call the customs and find this out. It's the customs who told him to use this code, so it should be ok... You should try to calculate it there, Afton, would be interesting to see what it says... And I agree with Joe, I think it's the buyer who should pay the taxes and VAT... Definatly not you. Every time I bought something from a foreign country, the shipping company contacted ME automatically and told me how much I had to pay. That sounds fair to me. Nils.
