Premium Members Beau Cuizon Posted May 29, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 29, 2015 Hi All, Just a question for those who are working on sets...film, television, or otherwise... What is your relationship like on set with your directors and DP's? I'm just curious as to how those positions see you and the rig...are you allowed to contribute ideas, and such, or is it more along the lines of just "dance, monkey, dance!". For you veterans, have you seen a change from years before, to now, in terms of how you're being utilized, or what is expected of you, as in operational abilities, or even equipment? Always interested in what you all have to share... Thanks! Beau
Premium Members Shawn Wang Posted May 29, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 29, 2015 well I am quite new (2.5 years in steadi op) as my experience may differ from ops who are more experienced. usually on set I face 2 situations, either the director comes to me or the DP. when DP comes to me it usually is a simple shot(compare to when Director comes), and usually is walk n talk , making sure headroom etc. when Director comes to me, he usually will walk the shot with me and describe what he wants, I will comment / contribute based on his idea and suggest options. They all open to my ideas and contributions, cuz for Me if I don't quite understand the shot, my hesitation shows in my framing, and as a result nobody is gonna like it. cheers
