Matt Burton
I'm looking for a cheap video transmiter for around £200/$400's ? Will be using with canon xl2 (argh) and steadicam 'flyer'. Any thoughts ? Cheers -Matt
Premium Members charlesneufeld Posted October 14, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 14, 2005 Hey Matt, You could try one of those "spy" TX/RX kits. Some have decent output power and are pretty tiny. They come in all the common Freq. but normally need a dedicated RX. ~C

On a side note i've been having problems tuning my receiver in when attached to my XL2. If i connect to a tv or monitor it's fine, however when i connect to my xl2 bnc 'video in', i can't seem to tune it in ? RobinThwaites
Hi Matt You prabably can't bypass the camera and go directly into the transmitter on the spy camera but there are little transmitters around which you could use. As for feeding the receiver signal into the XL2, it is a standard composite input so there should not be a problem unless it feeds out an odd signal. Premium Members benedictspence Posted October 14, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 14, 2005 Hi Matt! When I was at uni I made a cheap Rx/Tx from bits from Maplin... This was the 2.4GHZ transmitter I think- bit of a pain to wire up and needs an aerial... http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=27680&doy=14m10 And for the reciever... http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=32647&doy=14m10 Oh and the aerial... http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=27694&doy=14m10 I picked up one of those electronics housings from maplin too along with some case sockets power/video etc. and managed to make a nice little box for it all... Didn't ever work THAT well but for around £75 you can't complain! WOAH! Just realised I've still got mine- complete with case for the RX with a little LCD TV! Give me a bell- and it's yours for free if you want it mate (prob needs a bit of work- it's 4 years old)... You got my number?
