Bo Hallen
I am having trouble as to which cable I need to power the mini hdmi-sdi converter box on the top stage. I want to use power from the post(bottom stage). I understand a Zephyr has 3 pin lemos on the top stage. The blackmagic converter box is 12v dc barrel (2.1 mm mini jack) powered, right? What in the world do I need to make this work? Can I draw power from my GH4 and send it to the converter? Is there such aa cable ( 3 pin lemo to female mini 12vdc jack). I know mediablackout makes 3 pin lemo to p tap. But p tap won't power the converter box? I don't believe?
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted June 24, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 24, 2015 Hi Bo, I just updated the DC Barrel Power cable page to include connectors other than just P-Tap: http://mediablackout.net/product/dc-barrel-power-cable/
Premium Members Ken Nguyen Posted June 24, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 24, 2015 Make sure you have a 12V regulated source to power Blackmagic converter. The D tap might not work. Cheers, Ken Nguyen.
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted June 24, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 24, 2015 Ken, only the first version of the Blackmagic converters require a 12v regulated cable. The new one can accept a wider range of power (12 to 31 VDC) . In Bo's case it would be from a single Anton Bauer on a Zephyr. Bo: Also look at this cable that Alan makes: http://mediablackout.net/product/dslr-regulator-cable/It will power your GH4 camera from the steadicam batterie. You won't need to remove the camera and reload a new battery and rebalance anymore. The battery model for the GH4 is Panasonic DMW-BLF19 and make sure to get the 12v 3 pin Lemo (0B.303) for the Zephyr side. Also, Blackmagic uses 2.5 DC Barrel plugs. (Alan, you may want to specify that in the DC barrel dropdown)
Premium Members David M. Aronson Posted June 24, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 24, 2015 Are you sure about it only being the first version? I killed 3 before I switched to AJA.

George Grammatikos
As for the voltage your converter refer the voltage issue on it
Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted July 2, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 2, 2015 I think they still make a converter that requires regulated 12v but the ones with the beefier milled aluminum housings do not. Check the specs on your particular unit
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted July 3, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 3, 2015 I had a standard HDMI to HD-SDI converter that didn't need regulation. I bought that unit about four years ago.
