Handsfree

For full disclosure, I was actually trying to arrange a demo at a local rental house with his Hands Free for local operators. Before I continue this pursuit, I'll see if things clear up here.

Cheers,

Sorry forum members for any problems. I got a email from Jerry, so I understand the history and he is the first person to have the unit. I am a DGA upm retired from Paramount and looking to support the film industry with this unique camera unit. I also work to support Segway use. I will not post again until I have an industry demo in NY at one of the equipment houses. Again sorry for upsetting the members.

I've already received two requests to ban you from posting. Please be more careful on these matters as well as excessive quoting - if you must post, don't quote the entire post you are responding to!"

> locking this thread and banning this joker.

Itsi is not a joker. I worked for him on several feature and episodic projects back in my NYC Location Dept days in the 80's. I am pleasantly surprised to see him here on the this forum.

After reading this thread a few times I don't see any justification for banning Itsi. He's a new user and therefor a bit unfamiliar with this community. I don't think three sentences is 'excessive quoting'. I don't think his initial post was too commercial as he was looking to hire an operator and this is a community full of operators.

One of the reasons I created the cinematography.com forum way back was because a certain cinematography related mailing list would not tolerate or make room for non-professional camera people. Threatening to ban a new member for slipping up is no way to foster a community.

Tim,

The excessive quoting was referring to the fact that each of his posts (including posts in other strands) included entire other posts. Not a big deal, I simply mentioned it because we are trying to reduce this. The requests for banning him are just that; we certainly didn't implement it. As for him being for real, I concur. I met with him today and we had a great conversation regarding the Segway. (And for the record, he was not hiring an Op, rather looking to collaborate with one.) Anyway, he apologized again if he offended anyone and I apologized on behalf of our community because I can tell he is simply excited about his services. Nice guy. Nuff said.

Oh, his IMDB: http://imdb.com/name/nm0040585/

Cheers.

Confusing.... I thought it was about an attachment to any segway.......

Actually, this is what is said in the ad:

"The new HandsFree steadicam adaptor is used on any Segway to create a smooth hands free camera platform."

Seems te me a wrong use of advertisement, possibly misleading and therefore not the best person to deal with.

This is itsi Atkins owner of the Handsfree Segway in NY. Yes the handsfree will work on any Segway other than the very early models which have larger plugs. I own six segways and have a great deal of Segway experience. I added the demo of the unit on my ebay store, to promote the awareness of the unit in NYC. I had to have some fee inorder to place it on ebay. The fee is for my time, but I would be glad to wave the fee for any member of this forum, or camera union member. I needed some way to keep the non professional joy riders from asking for free demos. I am a professional member of the film community and one of the oldest Segway owners so you can be sure you are dealing with a responsible person. thanks itsi

Itsi,

What exactly is "the Handsfree Steadicam Adaptor"? Do you have photos? Is it a piece of equipment operators can purchase? If so, what is the cost and delivery time?

I suspect there are a lot more questions out there so any help in clearing up the confusion would be great!

Thanks in advance,

The Hands free is the turning mechanics which Handsfree in Germany invented and manufacturers. They sell it only as a complete unit, with a new Segway and handsfree unit. It slides into the Segway platform in place of the control shaft and handlebar. HF does not sell it alone, but since I have six Segways, I purchased one of the demo models and put it on my Segway. It will work with the xt, p or new i models. My interest is also to develope fixed mount camera use of the Segway, so I am working to introduce both to the film community.

I am available to any members of this forum for help, demos and to give you a chance to see and experience the possiblities of using the SegwayHT in the motion picture industry. thanks itsi

pictures are posted on my segway website: www.NYSegwayTours.com

since I am not an official dealer it is best to contact Handsfree-transporter.com for price and delivery.

I would like to announce that the NYC Handsfree will make it's maiden voyage this week. It will work in it's first professional gig in Centeral Park. I'm sure the operator will post his comments.
