Ravenseer Posted July 17, 2015 Report Posted July 17, 2015 Hi, firstly please excuse my incredible ignorance, I know very little about this as you will see but I recently bought a job lot of gear most of which i am fine with, but amongst it was what appears to be a pretty much never used DV steadicam, which I thought might be useful except it is minus its batteries. I have all of the original paperwork but nowhere does it state what batteries they actually are and I can't get an ounce of sense out of a Google search, so I thought I'd do the obvious and ask people who are likely to know, so I wondered please if anyone can help me.What batteries and charger am I likely to need please? Thank you very much :) Quote
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted July 17, 2015 Premium Members Report Posted July 17, 2015 Hi, What do you mean by DV Steadicam? Do you have pictures of the object so we can help you a bit more. Also, this forum is a real name forum, please reach out to an admin to have this changed. Thanks! Quote
Chris Freilich Posted July 17, 2015 Report Posted July 17, 2015 I used to own a DV Steadicam, and I think the battery was purpose-built for it. It looked almost like it was 6 AA batteries all wired together and shrink-wrapped with two wires coming out ending in an unusual small plastic male connector that plugged into the battery compartment of the rig. Perhaps Tiffen has the actual specs, and you could have one made? Good luck! - Chris Quote
Ravenseer Posted July 17, 2015 Author Report Posted July 17, 2015 Hi thanks both for the replies. Sorry abut the name thing, I'll see about amending that. It's a DV Steadicam, that's what it is, that's the name of it, both written on the object and throughout all of the literature. I've googled them and they come up under that name in an image search whilst looking for the battery specs. As Chris identified it looked in the handbook as if the batteries were indeed the sort of bundled affair that you mention, but I had hoped they were common- if Tiffen can't help me out I think I'll just forego using its built in monitor. Thanks once again very much for your help. Quote
