Best Steadicam Shots in movies

I'm a new steadicam op and interested to hear what everyone thinks are some of films greatest steadicam moves. What are the moves that inspire everyone? I did a search already on the forum and didnt find this question so I hope I'm not repeating a question...

the long shot in 'goodfellas' is a standard reply.

 

my favourite steadicam shot is from a movie called 'the contender' there's a crane step off outside of a government building, a walk up the stairs, into the building, down the hall, down the stairs, and down another hall, and into a room i believe. really nice work

 

there's also some nice work in the opening of 'snake eyes' 'carlitos way' is good.

 

there's a really cool shot in 'the mighty quinn' starts off aerial on a a zip line, down over the jungle, onto the ground, then running.

The openingshot in "Boogie nights". After that shot you know every major character in the movie and it ends with a ramp to slomo, nice.

Certainly, "Snake Eyes" would qualify as the most ambitious. The best Steadi shot of all time was the escalator shooting scene from Nash Bridges (dumb show, good shots), I wish I could score a quicktime of that, I am sure that most would agree if they saw it.

keeping in mind the opening snake eyes 'shot' is a few different shots cut together seamlessly with wipes and whip pans. still, some top notch game going on there.

 

never heard of this nash bridges shot. got an episode #? who was the op?

I agree with all those shots.

 

Larry's shot in "kill Bill 1" - perfect.

 

Also I have just seen "Serenity" - very good opening shot, the whole ship and all the cast - impressive.

Mark Emery-Moore (he also did the great shot in Outbreak)

 

There was a thread a few years ago re this subject, but it is always good to see new shots and get new ops thoughts.

There's an episode of "The X-Files" in season 6 entitled "Triangle". The entire show is a Steadicam shot with breaks only coming in the commercials. Very cool moves: tracking through the FBI building, elevator, an old WWII battleship, including the machine rooms. The DVD reveals that there were edits hidden in the blacks and whips, but they're hardly noticeable.

Hi howard,

Just seen "Serenity" tonight with a friend who's seen it several times, he said it had some greate steadicam shots in so i'd like it and he wasn't wrong. I stayed right till the end credits to see Mark Emery-Moore's name come up ( the ushers had starting sweeping up popcorn by then).

Greate film from josh, definatly recomend it ! the sounds awsome too!!

I'd like to give props for super-solid work in "Flightplan" to Andrew Rowlands (credited) and Jacques Jouffret (not credited). The two shots that took Jodie Foster down the stairs between levels of the plane, wow--probably the best stairs work I've ever seen.
