Premium Members Marc Abernathy Posted January 22, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 22, 2006 igor, thats the exact camera back i had but it used Anton Bauer batteries, however right below the membrane buttons and the screen were component video outs. i was using hytron 100s on the back and the sled.. it was damn close to the weight of a 435! it flew nice though.. balanced well.. Premium Members Igor Savatovic Posted January 22, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 22, 2006 Marc, The batteries are a big problem since this configuration is "sucking" cca. 6 ampers (the camera and link has cca. 50W). We are using Sony Li-Ion BP-GL95, on the camera back, so the camera is not powerd from the Rig. This batteries are very light and one battery is lasting around 1,5 hour. And the Sony charger is simultaneus, so theere is no chance to run out of batteries! The Camera with Link's back and batteries, weights around 13Kg!? (I think!? I didn't weight it!) It's not to heavy, I can fly it with no problems with my Glidecam V16. Only the first pic in the site is shot on V16, other two pics are with my other rig, Artemis Cine. igor
Premium Members Marc Abernathy Posted January 23, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 23, 2006 igor, yeah at first i tried using trimpacs to lighten the load but those lasted only about 30 minutes.. so that idea had to be scrapped and i went with the 100s. i think it was better in the end anyway. the battery on the back of the camera powered the link electronics as well as the cam and the brick on the sled was for the sled electronics.. etc.. hmm i didnt know that was a V-16! looked pretty good. your Rigs are very nice as well. cheers.. Premium Members Marc Abernathy Posted April 18, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 18, 2006 just to post something on this subject and what worked for me in this particular setup... i had a long day (10 hours between 3 different shows .. 4 cameras) this easter for a production and they use the thick multicore sony triax (with the smaller pins in the connector) for their system. after several different triax setups this one below ended up being the best in this case. the rig was pretty light and i endured it. i used suggestions from Brant, Jerry and some others and came up with a 'bastard style' triax setup. ooh, and the cable was brand spanking new! i pulled it out of the box it came in. talk about cable memory!! i had my grips ( i had 4) play with it and "loosen it up". so the triax was looped thru the handle, dropped down the non operating side (facing away from me) and looped "just below the knees" (thanks brant) then clipped on my back vest strap. the little loop between me and the grip worked well. he made sure to keep that much of a loop behind me and it worked.... this photo is a little dark but hopefully you can get an idea amd maybe (maybe not?) it will help others? all in all i had a blast.... i did static balance with no toys (JKilroy!) on and then i slapped on the Triax, PTL (Peter-Tally Light) J-7 and then did another little balance. once i put the rig on i then did a little side to side balance and it was good to go.
