Francisco Orozco Jr
You could use the balancing dock from the Merlin, Pilot, or even Flyer. They all share the same sized pin as the Solo.
LVSC
thanks i just contacted tiffin for help and they will advise me how to balance it it seems that without the docking you can't balance it by your own. to bad it cost 80$

Moderators Janice Arthur Posted January 20, 2016 Moderators Report Share Posted January 20, 2016 Josh; You got the rig, book, dvd, presumably you have a stand which you paid for. Spent something like 25 hours of time unsuccessfully working on it and unable to use the gear for months. Didn't and maybe still haven't paid $80 for the docking bracket which is going to be useful in other ways and still managed to get the training for free from Tiffen. If you are happy I'm thrilled for you but boy that's a tough equation for me. Good luck with using the gear on your jobs. Janice
Mike Keller
Have you got a light stand? Do you have a clamp? OMG thank you for this photo. I'm having a similar issue, trying to get my Steadicam Solo dialed in with my Nikon D600, and it never occurred to be to dig out my Super Clamp and use it. That's helped resolve a big part of my problem, I guess trying to hand hold it and make tiny adjustments is as bad as leaving the lens cap on, there's really no way to do it handheld, you can't hold it steady enough.
