Maintaining your Rig

Hi everyone,

I was wondering what you all do for care and maintenance of your rigs? I'm sure many of you have some wisdom to pass on to other operators (and new operators such as myself.) Areas could include:

- storage

- cleaning

- daily/montly/yearly checkups

- preventative maintenance

- when damage occurs/repairs

Maybe you've come across some obscure items that help you keep your rig in top-shape that you wouldn't mind passing along.

Thanks!

Damn, that is a drag about your Flyer arm. I developed a noisy ping in my Master Series Arm and tried everything I knew, but had to send it in to Tiffen for the fix (I had to buy a new part). I think that you might be facing the FEDEX route on that one, it could be a dozen or so culprits and very difficult to diagnose.

Mine happened in the middle of a shot and pinged in the same place during a critical take, the AD finally yelled FIX IT! and took 5, when I was unable to fix the ping, we opted to change the shoot so my arm would not boom up to the ping point. It literally drove me bonkers, I was tempted dissasmble it right there, it really screwed up an otherwise flawless and happy set (I could not afford a spare at the time).
