Premium Members Vahe Abrahamyan Posted February 19, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 19, 2016 Has anyone used this system for focus pulling while flying a stead ? http://store.redrockmicro.com/Catalog/microRemote-Bundles/remote-focus-system-finger-control-microremote-flex_2.html If not, could someone suggest a reliable focus pulling system that could be used by the operator himself when using manual focus lenses ? (I know :) it's not the ideal situation, it's usually best to have a focus puller). Thanks!
Premium Members Philip J. Martinez SOC Posted February 19, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 19, 2016 Analog Bartech with an analog motor if using a prime get the Bartech gimbal mount hard focus remote http://www.bartechengineering.com G-zoom for eng lenes http://www.erik-anderson.com/home/ There are a few things for sale on this forum if you want to buy used
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted February 19, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 19, 2016 Even with the Bartech analog, I would prefer to use the G-zoom rather than the one mad by Bartech. Much more ergonomic.
Premium Members Vahe Abrahamyan Posted February 19, 2016 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 19, 2016 Thanks a lot guys for your advice ! I had hard time finding relevant information. By the way I just saw a similar steadicam gimbal adaptable fingerweel controller on redrock's site too. (Not sure if it's as reliable as the ones you suggested.) http://store.redrockmicro.com/Catalog/microRemote-Accessories/microRemote-Universal-Fingerwheel-Controller-with-Collins-Clamp.html
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted February 19, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 19, 2016 The red rock is exclusively for their focus system. TheG-zoom is compatible with the analog Bartech and any eng style lens that have servos (Fujinon etc...) it also does focus, zoom and push to talk. Premium Members Vahe Abrahamyan Posted February 19, 2016 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 19, 2016 I see, so ideally in my case for controlling the focus myself (I don't own a wireless follow focus system at all - renting so far) a good combination could be for example the G-Focus Package: http://www.erik-anderson.com/product/g-focus-package/ Plus motors from Bartech or another manufacturer ? Premium Members Vahe Abrahamyan Posted February 20, 2016 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 20, 2016 One more question guys... Analog motors vs Digital ones ? Which one is more reliable and responsive in follow focus systems ?
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted February 20, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 20, 2016 Digital has the benefit of being auto calibrating, but they are more expensive. Analog can be used with a G-zoom to pull your own focus for live setups.
Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted February 20, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 20, 2016 Just to be clear the digital bartech cannot be used to control your own focus. Only the analogue one has the control port where the g-zoom or bartech thumbwheel connect. I have an analogue for sale in the marketplace. Make me an offer if your interested. Arseny sentiakov
Hey everybody! I have recently had to conduct a research on follow focus systems, their specifications and so on. I think many people, at least who is looking for a FF, will be interested. I’ve checked the most popular models, both wireless and wired, mechanical and electronic. I’ve done it myself so If you have any questions I will be ready to answer. links on reviews - proaim EF-PRO (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeTF2frxiM4) - KeyEasyFocus (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIHgG3fmEdY) - DJI Focus (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhE0ArjzJdI) - UniVice (https://vimeo.com/153903392) - Movcam (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_f5UyybK4c) - Camtree V2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do_6mn3QXD4) and my comparison chart Edited April 12, 2017 by Arseny sentiakov
