How much weight does a Bartech Focus Device and M-One motor add to a rig, all things considered? 2. What is the lightest single channel system on the market? Get a lighter motor than the M one. A little heden would see you fine. I would also worry about powering the M motor off the camera. I have heard it does not like the power an sr3 gives it. The bartech I think is the lightest unit around. possibly the cmotion unit is at the same level as well as MK-V s new unit. The bartech is a great bet. The BFD, power cable, M-One with mounting bracket and motor cable weigh in at a total of 27 oz. The small Heden M26P would be about 5 oz lighter, but it won't drive many film lenses. 2. The Chrosziel Fox is probably lighter but it won't drive a M-One. I've sold BFD's to a lot of unsatisfied Fox owners. 3. The best way to power the M-One is from the 12V on your sled. The BFD can be powered from a SR3 just fine but it requires a more expensive cable with voltage converter. I hope this helps. Premium Members ChadPersons Posted December 26, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 26, 2005 I now have two BFDs and just wanted to chime in on how happy I am with them. My Preston is gathering dust now as I enjoy the equaled proformance at much less weight. Add in the fair price and the best service I've experienced from any vendor since making the move to steadicam eight years ago and I can't imagine why anyone would buy any other system. By the way, anyone interested in a microwave Preston MDR-1 with two motors? Sorry, just throwing that in. The light weight and its low profile is also great for when we go hand held and your assistant can't be next to you for any reason. Oh and having two separate channels has come in very handy in that we give our DP a handset for the iris pull which he really likes to do himself or if we go with two hand held cameras both assistants can be remote.
