One segment features how the crew gets the riding shots of the bikes. There are several minutes of Adam Moyer, the DP, operating the Steadicam (3A?) vehicle mounted. It'll be rerun throughout the week. Nothing revolutionary, but it's always nice to see the gear in front of the camera once in a while. Check it out if you get a chance. I love that show. I'll second that. Not just the road tests, but all footage shot outsided their studio just looks fantastic. I'm sure it's going through some serious color correction in post, but still. The look of the video and the shot direction is definitely the best I've seen on any "magazine" type show. It's not hard to get that look but IMHO could be done better. Seems verry interlaced also from what i can remember. It was more about the rest of the shooting I was interested in. I did see somewhere that they shoot most of the show on IMX XD cams but the last series that screened in New Zealand had as well as the normal crew extra credits for the Film crew so I wondered if some is still shot on film. What I really wanted to know was the camera car stuff. The shots seem to go from to low and high to be of a vehicle mounted Steadi cam. The (very) few times I?ve seen the shadow of the camera it looks like it?s on some sort of mini jib arm but then how do they get rid of the shake? Top Gear is a show that has only two things to say. It?s a good car, it?s a bad car. And yet they do it in a way that I love to listen to and I love to watch. Ear and eye candy? and I don?t even like cars that much!
