Premium Members Claus Stuhlweissenburg Posted March 23, 2016 Premium Members Report Posted March 23, 2016 What's the name of the device that allows you to pan and tilt while your steadicam is in its dock. Quote

Richard James Lewis Posted March 23, 2016 Report Posted March 23, 2016 Optical Support make one too. Their version removes the slight upward tilt in the docking fork which the others don't. This allows you to pan flat. With the others you pan the rig in the fork and the frame goes off level. Rich. Quote
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted March 23, 2016 Premium Members Report Posted March 23, 2016 I believe the upwards angle is designed to keep the rig from slipping out, when not locked in. Quote
Premium Members Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted March 23, 2016 Premium Members Report Posted March 23, 2016 Upward angle is a good thing. If I need to operate a shot off the stand, I'll do it from the balance pin. The tilting dock is good for a rough frame for lighting. I contacted DNR about a month ago and he told me he was out of them. I asked if he was planning another run and he never answered me. 1 Quote

Premium Members Thomas English Posted March 25, 2016 Premium Members Report Posted March 25, 2016 would you say it is any improvement on just putting it on the balancing pin? generally just shoot off the balancing pin unless the shot is a lock off then fumble about between tilt brackets and lazy legs. I've got the optical support tilt bracket. Quote
