Premium Members Robert Eder Posted December 6, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 6, 2005 Hello, If i use a HD monitor like the panasonic on my sled with a varicam or any other hdcam; can i wire the monitor threw the bnc contacts on the sled? i think i´ve read that somebody had to run i wire down the sled, but i cannon find that topic anymore. i guess hd out is 75ohm on bnc too, so i am guessing why a cable would be needed. thanks a lot, robert
Premium Members Thomas English Posted December 6, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 6, 2005 I would, but I would disconnect my marell VDA/bubble unit at the same time as changing my monitor over. Otherwise, I think it would be absolutely fine. It s discussed regularly on this forum and the consensus seems to be its fine to stick HD down short lenghs of 50ohm cable. I use my lightweight SD (50ohm) cable all the time when hard wired I just don't bring it up in conversation.
Premium Members Andrew Jansen Posted December 7, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 7, 2005 I spoke to George Paddock here in the USA about running an HD SDI signal down the post of my PRO II sled, but it's not possible due to the lemo connector in the post. If you are able to run a direct 75ohm coax cable with bnc's on each end down the post that should work. I have many monitors including the Panasonic 8" HD which when I use it with an HD camera I have to run a cable IIIA style... What sled do you have ? Premium Members Robert Eder Posted December 7, 2005 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted December 7, 2005 i have a modified baerbel sled (the np1 version but upgraded to anton bauer) it has a bnc in on the upper j-box and a bnc out for monitors. it is also possible to use hirose4 (top) and hirose6 (lower) to cable the monitor, but this propably will not work. i think i have to try it ang get a bnc cable to be shure. thanks a lot! greetings, robert
