Premium Members Dave Wowchuk Posted December 8, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 8, 2005 I want to add a few straps with fastex buckles onto the sides of my vest (like one of the Steadicam vests have) to provide some extra stability between the chest and waist sections. If anyone has one of these vests, could you do me a favour and take one or two pictures of it (side profile) so I could show the person who will be doing the mod for me? I used this vest on during one of the workshops, but didn't find out which model of vest it was (it was with an Ultra Cine rig.) Premium Members Dave Wowchuk Posted December 8, 2005 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted December 8, 2005 (I actually have a few shots of some of the operators in the vest, but no closeups showing the detail of where the straps and buckles are located.) Premium Members David George Ellis Posted December 8, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 8, 2005 I would ask none other than vest guru, Peter Abraham. Look him up and he should be able to help you with anything vest-related. Good luck David
Premium Members Peter Abraham Posted December 25, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 25, 2005 Thanks for the props, my friend. I , for once, declined a customizing job and here is why- Tiffen now sells those diagonally mounted back straps as a stand-alone bit. You get two straps, the goodies and everything. I think the pair is like $ 25.00 or something. Cheap and well-stitched, I've had a few of them in my hands. Considering the time it'd take me to sew up a set and install them, I'd charge more than $ 25.00 They truly do make a huge difference, since many vests rise up when put under load and these simple straps ( which, by the by, were on THE prototype Steadicam Vest and on Model I vests ) help the shoulders bear some of the load. Excellent stuff. Buy some ! Contact Frank Rush at Tiffen to get em. :) Best to all, and for those older vests and difficult to fix problems, you betcha- I am still making vest parts and doing mods. Love that stuff ! Peter Abraham New York

Chip Monk
I'll call the man up in a few !! Peter " Why rip when you can click? " Abraham New York Hi Peter, I'd love to see some upgrades that you have done. I too have an EFP Vest that the velcro is starting to become "well used". What can you do to these vests? Premium Members Peter Abraham Posted August 27, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 27, 2006 The specifics vary from vest to vest, and I am hesitant to get into details of what I do here. It will feel like an advertisement, and there is a Forum already for things for sale. Email me directly, I am most comfortable with working one on one with Ops to do mods to their vests.
