question about strada crane

There is a thread somewhere in the archives about the Strada Crane, if you do a search. It's the only 100ft camera crane about. The Steadicam application is apparently a 'hook and quick release' system - just so long as the release doesn't come at the top of its range in the air! Much easier to do a simple crane step on / step off as normal, but of course you can't get anywhere near the same height as can be obtained with the Strada.

For those of you who have an interest in hook and release you should know that it is much, much safer than step on/off. The harnesses used were made by the flying guru from Cirque du Soleil and no Grips ate allowed to operate the system without first having undergone stringent training. Likewise, no steadicam operator, no matter how keen, is let loose on the system without being trained first. The system is now owned by Eurogrip in Mechelen, Belgium. Give them a call if you fancy the flight of your life.
