Virus alert

I recieved an email from the email address:

chupap@earthlink.net

I know Charles Papert uses this as his email address

The title of the email was:

Re: Improved

Upon opening, there was just the text:

"see file".

When I thought I was opening an email from Charles, my

Virus Protection stopped the email and alerted me that there

was a virus found on this attachment and it "could not be cleaned" and therefore

the "download could not be opened".

I've emailed Charles through this site to advise him and see if his email address

had been hacked and somebody is pretending to be him and sending a virus to

all of us. I'll wait for his response through this site, but in the meantime, I would

highly advise NOT opening any attachment from the "chupap@earthlink.net" email

address, as it may NOT be Charles and may contain a virus.

Once all is cleared up, I will post. But Charles may in fact need to change his

email address.

Michael

This seems to be the case--and they say Macs are immune from viruses. Oh well.

I'll be looking into this. In the meantime, Michael's advice is probably sound--remember that you can read an email that might be suspect, just don't open the attachment.

And if anyone wants cheap generic Viagra or are in the market for penile enhancement, apparently I'm the go-to guy.

This is probably not a Mac virus but a PC virus attached to the mail... It won't do anything on a Mac because it just can't... Most viruses on PC work because they tell the machine it's you. On a Mac it's never... you. OS X cannot be tricked into "thinking" like this... Which is why you have to type your password when installing a new soft... I don't think there's any known virus for Mac... Is there ?

If Charles has a mac then It s probably someone elses computer that has both addresses in their address book and is emailing viruses to randomn addresse s in the book and labeling them as coming from someone else in the book (i.e. Charles).

I also have access to a lot of viagra it seems!

Yes Thomas you're right that can happen with some viruses.

Don't worry Charles, your email account hasn't been hacked

But one of your friends with a PC must have a virus...

I guess it's true - if you get an email from one person, you're getting an email from every person that person has ever emailed.

Talking about Viruses,

I've been attacked by a long string of E mails proclaiming that my new password and username ar attached. The thing is they come from a number of addresses that I have visited so it looks something like this...

Account and password information are attached

Go to http/blah blah blah

E Mail blah blah blah zipped file.

It seems that it wants you to open the zipped file that is placed off to the right, where the web and e mail address are familiar.

So dudes.... what's cooking here?
