I haven't made up my mind whether to put it toward one large item (considering the Archos DVR) or try to round out my ditty and accessory bags with a bunch of little things. I would like to go with the latter, but I'm having touble figuring out what all those little items should be. I've already got the essentials: tools, nuts, bolts, sandbags, batteries, tape, common video cables, and so forth. I don't think I've been working for long enough to have been on set multiple times saying to myself, "Man...I just wish I had one of those....." I'm curious if anyone else has a list of other potentially useful, but not so obvious little items they always keep handy when working.
