Vidal Presidio
I know other unions do, for example Local 33, which allows their members to call in every day at a certain time and try get jobs thru there. Does Local 600 have anything like that? Any Local 600 member on here know? And also if they don't have a call in number, in what ways at all do they help in getting you work? Thanks. Premium Members Tom Wills Posted October 3, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 3, 2016 600 is not a hiring hall, and getting work is still your responsibility once you are a member. You can list yourself as available on the 600 website, but I doubt you will get much serious work from there.
Premium Members Lawrence Karman Posted October 3, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 3, 2016 Local 600 does not offer work referrals but does maintain certain lists of members that are available and looking for work, in need of just a few hours to qualify for health insurance, or members that are minorities. You can get on the available list by logging in to the www.cameraguild.com website and adding your name every week beginning Sundays. You can also add your name to these other lists that are provided to producers or other members looking for crew. In addition the Eastern and Central regions carry a list of productions that are or will shoot be shooting in the area that you can contact. They may get this list from the Studio Mechanics local. The Western region office does not do that because"it would take too much time". BS.
