DH Min
What's up my fellow FNGs and vets! In everyone's experience have y'all found that it's easier owning these additionally optional tools or just having Production rent them? Also, does one find on average or commonly that Prod. Co's hesitant or unwilling to rent them? Or is it a bit of a no-brainer easy subject for the producers to say yes to? Just curious as I'm on the fence whether to invest in those first or a camera. Thanks guys and looking forward to the input!

Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted November 20, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 20, 2016 Have owned my Bartechs (2) since........Can't even remember ( 15 years +), I have yet to get a client to pay for it, but hey, it's saved the day and made my life easier many times. I have gotten great rentals from my Boxx Meridians at times.

Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted December 1, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 1, 2016 I have an analog Bartech and Bolt 300 as part of my kit rental. It's the minimum needed to fly Steadicam properly. I don't want to have to tell the production that I can't work because the AC didn't do the checkout right and the WFF isn't working is something like that. If the production wants something better, they can rent it (won't change my rental price), but I will still come with my systems as backup (and it saved me a few times). Premium Members Dave Kanehann SOC Posted December 6, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 6, 2016 It has been my experience that it is more important to have your own wireless FF (I'm a Preston owner and a Stanton ZF owner personally). I have found in regard to wireless video every show I work on has been different depending technical on the set up of the show. If production hasn't already gotten them for the camera and needs you to provide the wireless video you can sub rent them far easier in my opinion.
