What drives you more mad?...

The picture?

or the caption?

(For those who do not have the magazine it is an article on the movie "Paterson", photographed by Fred Elmes and directed by Jim Jarmush.)

I worked on a film where the DP would hold firmly on to my vest and talk to me through every shot. My first instinct was that he was doing this because I was doing something wrong. It confused the hell out of the dolly grips. Very hard to get into a rhythm this way. He was really happy after every shot, though. Strangely enough, by the end of the show I was used to it- I was happy that we were getting shots he liked, and this was just another form of communication, out of the myriad on set, that I have acclimated to.

At best a more complicated dance, interesting and very challenging.

Once on a commercial, I had a director grab the post all the time and look at my monitor through the other side of my rig. I wasn't doing anything wrong during the takes but the director had anxiety issues and he was an ass...... it was film times so after the 7th time he did that I made a very fast whip pan to the right and I slapped him in the face with the 435 mag, as he was looking at me with his tomato red cheek, I told him I was sorry but that area is very sensitive and he touch es it, I could loose control. He learned the lesson and when back to Video Village after that. Not that I would do that to Fred Elmes but its still annoying when someone grabs us like a Joystick (we are the only ones allowed to play with the Joystick, its very sensitive) jajajaj.
