Fab Simoni
Hi everybody, Some questions about the moviecontroller for M15.What is the easiest way to controll the roll axis with the controller? I tried to assign a knob or something else with the map roll input menu, but don't succeed. It is the good way to proceed? An other question:-How is working the mimic mode? If I configure my movie controller in the mimic mode, can I use it directly by moving my controller? No special receiver or transmitter to install on the controller or the gimbal?Thx for answers. Premium Members Sam Naiman Posted January 25, 2017 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 25, 2017 There used to be a site called gimbaluser.com that was focused more toward brushless gimbal stabilizer systems. Maybe try http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php

Sean Jensen
Hi Fab. Mimic should work with your controller depending when you bought your MoVI. Otherwise you should be able to download Mimic from the Freefly website and install it on your M15 and your Controller. It works really well. No extra gear needed. I think using Mimic mode is the easiest way to control the roll axis while shooting if you don't own 3 axis wheels. (Klassen) All this info should be on the Freefly website or on their forum. Premium Members James Davis Posted February 23, 2017 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 23, 2017 Personally I quite like assigning it to the Zoom rocker on the side of the unit, this is really easy to do, go into TX Config, select Map Roll input and then you just select zoom rocker. Premium Members Tom Wills Posted February 23, 2017 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 23, 2017 FYI, while the roll control is limited to around 25 degrees off of level when controlled via a knob or the zoom rocker, by putting the controller into Mimic mode, but turning Pan and Tilt scaling down to 0, you can still use remote wheels (or the joystick) to control pan and tilt, but you can now roll the MoVI Controller up to 90 degrees - or potentially even more! We've put the MoVI Controller on a fluid head (at 90 degrees to its usual orientation) to allow for smooth rolls. In this configuration, one major caveat is that you must roll the MoVI Ring along with the camera's roll. If the MoVI goes beyond the 25 degrees or so off angle from the ring's orientation, the MoVI will react poorly, as it begins to get into gimbal lock. With some coordination and a set of headsets, it's totally workable, however.
