Premium Members Patrick Doyle Posted January 11, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 11, 2006 HI I just purchased my first Steadicam, a used Master Series Film. I'm looking to either get the PAG batteries that came with it recelled, or I'm wondering if anyone out here knows what's the best replacement for them. Best priced, and will fit the rig the easiest. If you can let me know that would be great. Cheers Doylecam@gmail.com thanks so much
Premium Members Ron L Rathbone Posted January 27, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 27, 2006  HelloPatrick, You have a few options. Most important. We intend to bring out a full line of batteries for Broadcast News, Cinema, and Professional Film. We are trying to get them ready before the NAB but that date is closing in fast. We are currently working on a replacement for the AB Proformer. That was a great batttery for the Steadicam market. Price point is still unknown. Hopefully we will have a Proformer replacement for +/- $150.00, an 82WH brick replacement for under $280.00, and a replacement for the H120/120 for under $350.00 (All with an external glass fuse.) Price points are not concrete. We intend to compliment them with the PAG Pulsar Analyzer with snap on compatible mounts. Yes you can get the pag batteries recelled. We recell batteries. Yes, you can get new PAG batteries, we sell those discounted. You also have your steadicam battery options. We recell all Steadicam batteries. If you need used Steadicam battteries we build inserts for a company that sells used Steadicam and Arriflex / Arri cameras. They may have some of those. Off the cuff: Recently, during our consolidation and relocation, we had a guy from NY call with 15 long hershey bar type steadicam batteries. The thing is, he had purchased cells somewhere else with tabs and called wanting us to take off the tabs, buff out the spikes from the tabs, and properly weld together inserts and install them in his cases, cheap. Well, we tried to do him a favor between our paying customers. We will not do that again. Ron L Rathbone Rathbone Energy, Inc. 2595 E. Premium Members Brad Grimmett Posted January 27, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 27, 2006 Patrick, I believe Lentequip recells steadicam batteries in Canada. Not sure where they are located, but that's worth a shot. I've heard of Rathbone before and never heard anything bad. The problem is you have to ship them your batteries, which adds to the cost. I have my master series batteries recelled here in Los Angeles. If I were you I'd call Lentequip and ask them if they can help you or know somewhere closer to you. I believe the name of the person you want to speak to is Emory. He posts on the steadicam forum sometimes. Good luck.
Premium Members Ron L Rathbone Posted February 1, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 1, 2006 :) Hello Guys, Of course, if you want your batteries recelled you have to send them to someone for recell. With Anton Bauer we weld the case back together with a professional weld. Another thing about any of those batteries that at Rathbone Energy we use Only the very best cells available. Most vendors want to use low cost press negative cells like the Sanyo KR500DEL or even Chinese\Third World. Our web site, rathboneenrgy.com, gives full detail and manufacturers battery specification sheets on most cell options. We do not bother we Chinese or third world. Check out the site. Every question you every wanted answered about batteries and batttery vendors is probably found on our site. Just read. You can also email or call. THanks, Ron L. Premium Members Thomas English Posted February 3, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 3, 2006 We intend to compliment them with the PAG Pulsar Analyzer with snap on compatible mounts. Does that mean you have made a AB to Pag plate? enabling me to use AB batteries on my rigs pag mounts? This is something that would be very useful to me
