Modulus repairs

Howdy folks,

My modulus 3000 just fried in the middle of a show, is there anyone out there who fixes these things other than the one-year-turn-around-if-your-lucky option of Custom Interface in Maine?

I have already tried Wolf Seeberg in LA, and they don't do it anymore...

(Canatrans here I come!?!)

Thanks in advance.

Hello all,

Does anyone know of another option besides CIT East for repairs on a Modulus 3000? I've had a video interference problem with mine from the start. CIT has had it back 3 times, and have not been able to remedy the problem.

I can't afford to keep sending the unit to Maine, and loose it for 3-4 weeks at a pop. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm going to try to pre-empt snarky "yeah, go buy a Canatrans" posts thrown at Mark, because obviously that's not the answer to his question...

I had some work done on my Modulus by a video assist guy, but when I suggested that I could get him a lot of business if I let people know he was a resource, he wasn't interested.

You might try Terry West, I think he can do some work on them, but your problem may be a bit esoteric if they weren't able to fix it at CIT.

good luck with it, hope it works out.

Charles & Don,

Thanks for the leads.

Charles, you preaching to the choir. I've used Canatrans before, but I'm also looking at some of the 1.2G systems. I realize I need to buy something that is reliable, both in performance & support. Until I find exactly what I want, I still need my Modulus to work, and I'll hang onto it as a backup, or possibly to transmit UHF for all the sound men who still have receiver / monitors on their carts.

Thanks,

Slightly off topic, but I thought I would chime in here.

I have been on a set with about 3 modulus units, a few Canatrans, and a Titan from Transvideo. It?s been good to compare all 3 in a variety of conditions.

I can report that they all have there place. I have seen equal problems with all 3. It is totally environmental dependent.

I honestly can?t say one is so much better then the other. All have pros and cons. performance/price/size

My chosen method as of late has been, transmitting with a modulus and a Titan at the same time. This seems to make every one happy. The Titan works great in a good line of sight condition, where the modulus covers up the gaps. It?s great to be able to send choices over to video, no last minute swaps. One system will always make it.

I should note, that I own, 2 Modulus units and a Titan package. My Modulus was recently repaired in a very timely fashion in Maine at CIT, I was very happy with there service in spite of the rumors of slow/poor service. They were great, fixed and returned in about 2 weeks.

I wouldn?t throw away your modulus so fast; they are still very good work horses. I am in no hurry to bye a Canatrans.

Jeff
