Hi everyone

Curious what you all recommend and prefer as a recorder on the steadicam these days, and where you like to mount it. Pictures welcome!

Thinking about a Transvideo Starlite for recorder/low-mode monitor under MDR, or maybe a cheaper Atomos recorder. Or maybe there's something new out there?

I use a blackmagic video assist (seven inch) as return and use a transvideo for the sled monitor. the blackmagic records 4k.

I have the tiny starlite that you mentioned. if i know there is a possibility on shooting low mode I will mount up the starlite so its already "under there" so it's one less thing I have to worry about.

Ive got the Atomos Shogun Flame! Its great! 1500 nits and doubles for a backup Steadicam monitor for studio work (its pretty reflective). Absolutely worth the extra cash over the BlackMagic!

have used both the convergent design nano and now mainly use the blackmagic hyperdeck shuttle 2 with some of the mediablackout mods. if you dont mind not having the screen, then i thin kthe workflow is pretty easy. writes to SSDs, formats in exFat.

With auto REC a must for me and easy navigation for watching the takes back I've found the Transvideo Starlite to be almost perfect. It's small, light and has low power consumption, it glitches from time to time and needs to be rebooted but only once every few days so not a critical issue. I'd like it even more if it played back out the SDI output but it's never been so much an issue that I've felt like making a change.

I use a lot the atomos Samurai blade. Much cheaper than the flame. And much lighter. have some limitations and I should not use it as a steadicam monitor ( at least outside (but I had an experience once that I had to use it as an sos and it did his job).
