When turning over, I could see that the Marell didn´t really like the change in voltage induced by the start current of the 435. Worse at 50 fps. We didn´t go any higher in framerate but I wonder if we could have done 100 or 150 FPS. Could be the age of the batteries. The Marell monitor was ok on it´s own, a decent picture and a good brightness. A little small, but I am used to my 7" LCD. We also made a mod for Ruben to give him more bottom weight and much better dynamic balance on his EFP. - with very good results (from Ruben) We also have the new MK-V/Hummingbird 'Steadicam' Monitor and this would work with your EFP very well. It also has built in heaters for working in sub zero temps. It also has either PRO or CP mount and the standard PRO compatible 8 pin 1b Lemo input. guillermo nespolo Posted October 29, 2004 Report Share Posted October 29, 2004 well my mk-v rig its was on a efp rig....after a think was less than a few day howard came with his mk-v rig the ones u can see at his page... i only keep from the efp the gimbal the topstage and the arm that was more than beatifull remade and upgrades by howad anodosise and all after a few moths of work i put my efp black and withe monitor for the lcd monitor from mk-v...that was a great upgrade for me.... the good thing about the mk-v upgrade its that u start with little and then u can really can grow up as u works grow up....that is what happen with me.... at that time howard was working also in his follow focus...but did not havit ready ....thing that its gonna change i think in a few moths... a big tip here....think that u can star with the genesis sled...and ther grow up to the standrd mk-v base and then to the nexus sled ..and then to the alien ....if that its not a modular sled please point me where it is.....? big tip here ....be aware that your vest (efp) vest also need to be upgrade....as u start to use heavier cameras...u gonna find that your vest starts to have some movment that are not good that for the stress on the forces that u put that poor thing ....keep that in mind also ...i can start with a 3a vest from mk-v or the mk-v front mont vest or i u wish direct to the mk-v genesis vest... i gonna thake a few pics and seand it to u tomorrow...of the arm the sled and the parts i still have of the efp sled.. well thanks for your pacience with my english .....and right me if u dont get the pics.... Checking the equipment I thought that I must change the Fuse, but I couldn`t. :( I pulled off the fuse like usually do for turning off, but for changing the fuse, I thought pulled more. Dave Bittner Posted May 9, 2005 Report Share Posted May 9, 2005 Overall, the EFP was a nice rig, and there are still a lot of them out there being used for all kinds of work. It's my undertanding that the original configuration of the EFP was very difficult (if not impossible) to get into dynamic balance, and that most of the ones you see working out there today have been modified, usually with an adjustable battery mount. (Isn't it correct that PRO started out of George's frustration with CP's lack of responsiveness to his modifications to his own EFP?) Overall, an EFP in good condition would make a nice "starter" rig, but if I were you I would be sure to try several of the other rigs out there, including the new line from Tiffen and the Glidecam Gold. These are much newer designs, benefitting from years of operator feedback on the older designs, and likely more reliable, too. There are many, many choices out there these days, and you owe it to youself to find the rig that feels like it "fits" you. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
