I'd like to upgrade from my trusty flyer to a more weighty rig.

Would anybody take a part ex for it for instance ?

An old EFP or perhaps the new V25 could be suitable upgrades but i'm open to sugestion.

Money is tight but i'm sure i could raise extra funds (perhaps sell a couple of my girlfriends handbags :D ).

Hi Matt, Sorry I missed your appeal the other week for a V25 in a hurry, I don't normally come into this part of the forum, i think mine might be the only one in the uk so far but I may be wrong, if you do want to try out the V25 before you buy and Glasgow isn't too far away for you let me know and perhaps we can sort something out. It really is a very impressive rig and it's great value for money.

Hey Matt!

Hows tricks?? You've only just got your Flyer; and now you're moving up?? Good job!

You should have a look at the MK-V Steadicams for sale site- there are some pretty good deals on old Master series packages... not state of the art but can handle anything you want to throw at it!

As for money- have you consdered a loan or a finance deal?? Cahoot did a wicked loan for my car a few years ago- an £8,000 loan over 3 years and I only ended up paying them £8,800 in total. Well worth it for spreading out the payment and for keeping the cashflow in good condition. The last thing you want to do is spend everything to your last penny, have a couple of clients who pay late and get bankrupted or something! If you're looking at spending more, then a finance deal is pretty good although they will need alot of paperwork; proof of income, end of year accounts etc. etc.

Anyways- keep us informed!

Hey all,

Loans are so 2004, I wont even entertain the thought any more. Credit cards with super balance transfers are the way ahead. 0% over 10mths then swap it to another card, brilliant. Bought my last rig that way, paid it off over 10mths and paid no interest at all. The super balance transfer if you don't know enables the credit card company to transfer 95% of your cards limit in cash to your current account with no charge whatsoever. Get the max credit card limit by upping your already owned card to its limit then apply for a new card with somebody else and they will 9 outta 10 times beat or match it. Worked for me, if you on the ball and keep swapping cards you can do quite well off of the 0% cards. A friend has paid off 20grand of his mortgage by doing this, saving him hundreds in interest payments. If you cant beat them with a stick at least beat them at there own game.

All the best

Hi John,

Have you flown many rigs before the v25, how does it compare i'm very curious.

I normaly pass through Glasgow on the way to avimore snowboarding, so if you guys get any more snow this year i'm their for sure.

Love Glasgow by the way, such a friendly place with mental drinking laws :D

Mental.... sounds to good to be true.

So is it normal for them to be 0% for 10 mths, what banks etc ?

Cheers

Hi Matt,

I've been a glidecam customer for a few years so have went from a V8 to V16 to V25, I've also flown a flyer, in my opinion the V25 is the best rig I've flown, I think the arm is just as smooth as the flyer arm, the vest is comfortable with all the required arm angle adjustments and the sled is great. There's 2 12v power outs on the j-box at the top of the sled and 2 at the bottom with 3 video ports wired in too, the gimbal is very smooth and all adjustments are no tools. I think the flyer is a great rig but I just think the V25 is a step up.

If you are passing through glasgow anytime then get in touch and come and give it a go.

John.

Howdly Doodley,

Erik this is completely above board and perfectly legal. There is a fantastic website called www.moneysavingexpert.com it tells you everything from mortgages to loans, crdit cards even money off vouchers for superstores, this site is the nuts. Banks have been ripping us off for years and so this is a good way to make them work for you. I suppose they believe that a vast percentage of people cannot be bothered to change their credit cards and hence stay paying over the odds. we have all done it, I hold my hand up and say yep thats me, but if you can take the time to switch its a great way to pay for stuff interest free. I personally signed with Virgin as they were the first to get back to me and had a max 10mths % free. I have just super balanced again as I am now hoovering up more kit and I'd already paid back the first inital loan. I think mbna or something are the main backers behind this card and others, search that site under super balance transfer and enjoy the wonderful world of free loans.

Now I am the money saving expert, steadicamers bow down and worship...................

or perhaps not......

c ya
