Posted June 15, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 15, 2005 I had sent it back to custom Inferface technlogies but it took six months and I still have the same problem ! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Typical of Peter Spineli. Honestly the Modulus 3000 is one of THE worst designed and built pieces of crap that we used to be forced to work with. Once I asked Peter why it takes so freaking long to get my modulus back and he PROUDLY told me that he had FORTY on the bench ahead of me. Let me say that again. FORTY Broken Modulus's ahead of mine.... DING DING DING don't you think that "MIGHT" Be the indicator of a design issue??? I have had it "Repaired" only to come back with other problems (The status light being non functional) Next time that little piece of crap breaks again (And it will) I will throw it in the trash. Or better yet put a .50Cal Slug through it, Just so I don't have to deal with Spineli. Do yourself a favor and look at the Lentquip transmitter. It's actually built like a piece of Avionics. Properly and ruggedly. I have also been assured by Lentquip that if I need to get it repaired they promise me a two day turn-around.
Premium Members jonathan_hale Posted June 15, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 15, 2005 Terry West might be able to fix it if you don?t want to send it to CIT. He told me if I ever had a problem with my 2000 to send it to him, not CIT (he was amazed to hear that when I had sent mine in a while ago for a similar problem that I got it back in 2 weeks?hearing these stories, I guess I?m amazed now, too!). Of course I?d be kind of curious to see a .50Cal slug through a Modulus. Terry West South Bay Film & Video Services 310-374-5711 techrat@earthlink.net Jon
bobgilles
The Modulus was a very cool tool, it had high wattage and thusly got very hot. Now, you can find many 1000 Mw transmitters for less, but they will still get hot.
Premium Members Afton Grant Posted August 20, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 20, 2005 What is the real deal regarding the Modulus 3000 and the FCC approval? All the ones I have seen for sale have a disclaimer that they are for export only, or must be sold with an FCC waiver. Is this a serious issue, or is it more of a common notice applied to any device that broadcasts a signal of some sort? Would I be able to purchase one and use it in the US without much problem? Did the 2000 come with the same disclaimer? Thanks, as always.
Matt Mouraud
Same thing here in France.... However, from what I understand, nobody will come and bother you as it is fairly difficult to home in on a small transmitter and not that hard talking yourself out that kind of problem, should any problem arise... Premium Members Dave Chameides Posted August 25, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 25, 2005 Anyone know where I can get the tiny dials for my Modulus 2000? They've fallen off and I can't tell what channel I'm on (actually i can, just can't change it). Anyone? Anyone? ...doo economics? dave
Premium Members Charles Papert Posted August 25, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 25, 2005 Dave: Hmm, long time no talk. (!) I have sad news for you. I sent my Modulus in (to Maine, no more local service) to have a missing dial replaced--I forgot why but it's not as easy as just popping another one on. It took about 6 weeks to come back to me. As has been well documented here in previous posts, this is typical for Modulus repairs these days.
Premium Members Brad Grimmett Posted August 25, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 25, 2005 I think I remember Jon Myers telling me he had some of these, or knew where to get them. Send him an email, he may be able to help. Joncamop@aol.com
