Gentlemen,

I have a couple of questions concerning the Modulus 3000. Do you guys know if it has the ability to transmit in PAL format? The camera will not have a NTSC video tap. Also, does the DX 400 or 402 receive a PAL signal? Thanks for any help you guys might be able to offer.

Jay,

How are you man? Yeah, your Modulus should be okay with a PAL camera (is your rig monitor?). As for the tuner, I use a Sony diversity but it has always worked too (you may have to adjust the vertical hold on the monitor). The only mild snag is that it renders the image black & white.

Cheers,

Marc,

Bob DeRose used to take a Sony tuner (intended for mobile homes) and mate it with a diversity unit (also for said purposes). He then housed the two units in a metal case with professional connectors and in a nutshell, it kicks butt. While tech specs may not match the CIT diversity, it is a hell of a lot more rugged than that overpriced fragile plastic box and it is really pretty good. Biggest short-coming is that it does not assign actually channel numbers to frequencies so you have to do that after you do a search. I have a bunch programed in (it lets you change the numbers to match the actual number - does that make sense?). Great tuner though I tend to use my Hermes more now unless I need the diversity.

Oh, the other big problem - Bob DeRose is retired and Sony no longer sells the components (i.e. good luck finding one).

Going back to the PAL thing. I've owned a few different tuners and have never had a problem transmitting PAL except the black & white thing (and sometimes needing to adjust the vertical hold).

On the basic plate of the transmitter, the thin crosspiece between legs of the microcircuits, at all not fixed by glue, at once is appreciable.

The capacitor on a plate is fixed by temp-glue and at once is appreciable, how wires are inaccuratly soldered to connectors and not protected by isolation or by tubes.

The red light-emitting diode (that it displays - we and have not understood, probably timecode) is simply pasted in the body, its contacts are bent and are not isolated.

Plates of the transmitter are made very well and accurately, on automatic manufacture, and only separate components of the non-standard form or necessary for adjustment are soldered manually. But unpleasantly amazes installation of wires on connectors.

Testing of the transmitter was carried out as follows: household tuner PHILIPS with the monitor has permanently been established, and the transmitter was at the moving operator with the camera. The maximal distance on which received a stable picture, has made 167 m that is very satisfactory at such antennas.

If it is interesting to you, look more on Modulus-gavno

Best Regards,

Evgeniy

I have an american made/bought modulus 3000 and european transvideo hermes reciever . I can t seem to get an image up! I can pick up lots of TV on the hermes so thats all fine.

Is there a range of frequencies t

he modulus does NOT transmit on?

Is there an offset between the channels on the modulus and the hermes?

thanks!

Is the Hermes a PAL unit and the Modulus a NTSC unit? if so they aren't going to play together.

Yes and yes. The European PAL frequencies are not the same as the North American. IN fact not all PAL countries are alike either! It poses problems when you think you set a specific channel number on the transmitter (Modulus) and hope to pick it up on the same channel on the PAL TV for instance. To do this correctly the transmitter should have different frequency look-up tables depending on the country it was sold too. The CanaTrans addresses this problem nicely and accounts for the different frequencies to which the unit is sold. Thought you would like to know in light of your question.

Thanks... But I have sat there and scanned every single channel on my reciever! I get some weird purple signal on the channel above the one set on the modulus. A scrambled purple signal that turns off when I turn the modulus off.

(I am transmiting bars off the SD out of a sony 750)

Emery,

Whilst different countries operate different channels. They do all transmit at the same increments or bands don t they? Am I getting a side band on my reciever?

Absolutely not! The increments are different. Without getting into a lenghty discussions here I would be happy to share some of the similar problems others have had in regards to this issue - notwithstanding possible other video issues you "may" be having? Hence once again the beauty of a customized look-up table for the specific country or continent as it may be.
