I need to renew my equipment/liability insurance before then and want to make sure it will cover me for the next 12 months as a Steadicam owner/operator. I obviously asked the broker about Steadicam and it should be covered but are there any pitfalls that I should be aware of? I could change Broker if there is a particularly good one for UK ops. Mike Hi Mike, There was a recent post about a good steadicam insurance company will try dig it up for you. What kinda cameras will you be flying with your new rig ? Whatever I am asked to. I suspect it will be smaller stuff to start with but have some HDCAM and S16 jobs already being offered this year. I will hopefully graduate to 35mm, but probably not in the next 12 months. I will have to see how things go. Wouldn't the camera be covered on the production's insurance? Thanks Yes that's true, I asked about type of cams too see what steadicam you might go for. Ie bigger/smaller cams or a bit of both. Whats your buget etc. My budget has a little flex, but aiming under 15k. I would like a rig that will remain as a decent backup when I upgrade or can be upgraded as I earn and learn. I would love a Klassen vest, 3a arm and MK-V lite sled, but I'll have to play with a few more rigs at the workshop first. I may go for something cheaper like a v25 to start with. If you got it spend it ! you won't regret it later i'd be pretty sure of that. One thing to consider is think about what you will need in regards to steadicam accessories.
