Gregg Ritchie
I am currently a camera operator for a regional television station in Manchester England. I am writing my dissertation about the steadicam. I was wondering if anyone knew of any links to recources about steadicam. I specifically need opinions of steadicam users to use as references within my critique. Can anyone help me? It would be much appreciated. Books, online articles, etc. would be a great. Thanks, Gr3ggy
Nils Ruinet
Hi Gregg, Try these links : http://www.steadicam-ops.com/soamanual.shtml You could be especially interested in the "steadicam ressource manual". It doesen't mention the newest models, but still very nice. http://www.steadicam.ca/mainfile/article/article.html Some great articles about steadicam. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/024051607...5Fencoding=UTF8 One of the only books about steadicam... "Steadicam, First Edition : Techniques and aesthetics" http://www.garrettcam.com/ Garrett Brown's website, there is an interesting documentary film about steadicam. http://www.landaucamera.com/links.htm Loads of steadicam related links here, great ressource ! And of course this forum ;) Probably the best ressource you can imagine, have a look at the archives. Have fun ! Nils.

Premium Members Jason Torbitt Posted March 24, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 24, 2006 I'm also in Manchester if you need any help. A good google search for Steadicam will haul up some good stuff, there's a 'Steadicam FAQ' which might answer some of the questions you may have. Joe McNally might also be a good person to speak to, he has some interesting reading on his website, www.joesjibs.co.uk, click on Steadicam.
