Premium Members Brian W. Hall Posted April 4, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 4, 2006 Im a new steadicam op. I have a Walter Klassen Vest which I love. I did a shoot last week doing beauty shots of an interior house. Anyway my lower back started to hurt after having the rig on for 10 minutes. This was my first time in the rig in about 4 months. My question is... is my back hurting because Im not used to it and need to build up my stamina? Or is my Vest not fitting me properly? I noticed there was some space in between my lower right back and the vest. Enough space for me to fit my fist inbetween.. any thoughts would be appreciated. FYI i was using a MK-V lite with a steadicam 3a arm. Flying an XDcam. Brian
Premium Members Stephen Murphy Posted April 4, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 4, 2006 Brian, You shouldnt be able to fit your fist between the small of your back and your vest - try inflating the air bladder a bit more untill you have a snug fit. Re-read the manual that came with your vest to make sure you are wearing the vest correctly and then inflate the bladder. If you are still experiencing discomfort then call walters shop - he and his team give superb service and are the best people to talk you through any problems you may be having. Hope this helps,

It sounds like you have a fit problem too. I played golf last week for the first time in a few months and my shoulder was sore, I am simply rusty, no equipment problems. Strech more, warm bath, advil... Jeff
George Grammatikos
Hi Brian first off all read your manual and paly with the air bladder With the back mounted vest you are using some different muscles than the front mounted vest so you need time (for make strong this muscles) i remember that i also have a pain in my back in the start and i had the same stress (is the hardness mach with me ,maybe wrong measurement?)after a week of work you forget that pain and you will love your hardness like no other part of your equipment Fly safe George
