Premium Members James Puli Posted April 10, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 10, 2006 I cant see Hugo in there. The operator at the pool is Glen Steer and the others are Dale Henderson (who also operates the Water Steadicam). JP

Premium Members Charles Papert Posted April 10, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 10, 2006 I see various incarnations of the Battery Hanger, which I've also been beta-testing for Hugo and Dean--I'll be offering a complete review at some point but I can say that it's working great for six months and I'm enjoying the flexibility of battery positioning very much. Premium Members Andy Stankovich Posted April 11, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2006 Yes, all the rigs have external zoom controls. The BeBob Zoe 2 is the one we used at the swimming and athletics. Very small, easy to attach and use.
Jurgen Badenhorst
Hey Andy, Thanks for the help, does the operator do the zooming himself or does it work like a Preston when working on Film... J...
Andrew Pascoe
l know this is a bit sad but one of the only reasons why l was watching the swimming was for those steadicam shots as the competitors were being introduced, very slow and very smooth!!!! Some of the shots just looked like the cam was on a dolly but l hadn't thought of remote zooming which would help of course. :) Chad P
Premium Members James Puli Posted April 17, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2006 Glen Steer is probably Australias most experienced TV Steadicam Operator. He has done the same shots at the swimming at all the major Olympics, Comm Games, World Championships etc for as long as I can think of. He had the Zoe zoom controller mounted on his gimble, and zoomed when and where the shot warranted it. The main zoom he is doing was during medal ceremonies where he starts in front of the athletes and tracks around to an over shoulder shot with the nations flags going up and he simply continued his movement with the zoom. And it looked amazing. He obviousley did have a spotter with him most of the time, but having done the same shots over and over again, he knows the pool backwards. The only little thing we noticed was that the areas at each end of the pool (where the blocks are) were about half the size they were in Athens and Manchester. This made all our jobs alot harder. The other little thing was that he had a 4mm lens on the camera. JP
