Hey all,

I finally got enough footage to put some semblance of a reel online. Would love for you to check it out and comment - the more critical the better. Not making excuses, but I'm going to have to find a better way to compress it because the footage actually is a bit smoother than what's online. Must be the frame rate. Ok, I am making excuses, but at least I'm not trying to hide anything.

I'm not making this "public" yet because I want to hear from you all first. Let me know if you think there's anything I should definitely take out.

Thanks.

Hi Dan

I would loose the opening shot, it has too much headroom while the rest is much more accurate.

Then, be careful with long panning shots, if nothing is moving with you in frame, it introduces severe strobing (which you do not really see on Quicktime but for sure on film.)

I like the little joke from the guy walking backwards, though it is all very staged (people really starting IN frame.)

I would use only small parts of your reel, basically where the moves and actions of the people are dynamic and certainly no long following or preceding shots, unless they have a good dynamic.

Then try to vary in height and lens-angle, this is all high-mode and very wide, it gets boring very quickly.

I think a good showreel shows many different shots, not too long and in a short time. Producers and directors take only limited time for any showreel, so put your best shotsin the beginning.

:)
