Premium Members Kris Torch Wilson Posted April 23, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 23, 2006 Now I won't pretend for a second that we are making good television but we did something this week that was a hoot. And it felt good being goofy. Hope this link to my breifcase works. If not, here's the scoop. After finding out one of the staff of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" has breast cancer she decided to get a mohawk before her hair falls out. An "up yours cancer" attitude. One of the guys decided to get one as a show of support. Challenges and pledges of money came next and before the day was over on Thursday 32 of us were sporting new haircuts and had raised over $12K for cancer research. Hope your all healthy. Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted April 23, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 23, 2006 bummer.... broken link. I'll try later... If I remember right they did something like that on "Medical Investigation" but I believe it was just a bet... Premium Members geoff shotz Posted April 23, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 23, 2006 well, sort of erwin. sadly, it was a very similar situation. during medical investigation, my best friend passed away due to cancer. my shaved head/mohawk was a big screw you to cancer as well as a reminder that life can't be taken to seriously. funny how a lot of people really understood the meaning and supported my statement. kris, please wish my best to your friend on the show. my heart is with her. as for you guys, wear your mohawks proud. it's a statement of power and a feeling of empowerment that is quite liberating. when the native americans said "it's a good day to die" they were trying to remind themselves to live each day fully, so that come what may, you'd never regret missed moments or feel life was wasted. the haircut was merely an outward sign, the rest was the internal philosophy of living life fully. geoff
