vespa
Thankyou for taking the time to read my post. I have recently purchased (2nd hand) a steadicam jr. I believe it is a model about 6-8 years old. I live in Australia. The problem I am having is my handy cam (JVC GZ-MG30) is very hard to balance up. The camera is only 140 grams. (.14 kg). I have the "light" stopper in, I have the camera mounted in hole 7, batts installed in steadicam, no weights, and gimbel is fully un screwed. The rig is still extreamley bottom heavy. I dont know how to fix my problem??? Has there been released an accessory to allow light cameras to be used on the steadicam jr?? Thank you very much for your help. Premium Members Lars Erik Posted April 28, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 28, 2006 Never used a Steadicam Jr before. But I own a Steadicam Archer, and when I use lighter cams, I usually have to add a weight to the top of the camera. I've been using the HDV cam from Sony, and I added a 2kg weight on top of the cam to make the rig act perfect. As I said this might be wrong since you're using a Steadicam Jr, so someone please shoot me if this is stupid advice. But try adding a kilo maybe to the top of the cam. Use strong velcro to do it. 3M makes something called dual lock, this is an extremely strong velcro.
