dvdr -r or dvdr+r

hi just buy myself a dvd burner (pioner makes his burners dvd-r and philips+r)

mine its +r and i found hard to get generic dvd +r ...i can found big on verbatin or sony or tdk but not generics

i just want to now if this happens also in the states...cause i just im afraid that just buy a dead format...

the burner works perfec and the dvd that i burn works also perfec...but geting blank media for cheap here its very hard

:blink: i was also struggeling with that problem but i chose a different burner wich supported both formats + and - so i can please all of my clients at their request.

I myself are an apple macintosh G4 user and replaced my - burner with a + and - burner. (apple used to only support the - format)

 

maybe it is more profitable for you to also replace your + burner with one that can support both types?

Just be careful with those generics.

 

I bought a box of 50 DVD-R from the electronics mall here, ok, I know, cheap, always the possibility that you are ripped off and what happens: the first 10 or so are OK, they work and I can replay them, but then there is suddenly a problem. They write alright in my TDK multistandard ( extern)recorder, but I cannot run them on my IBM laptop anymore.

 

Look carefully......... They look the same as the first 10 but on the other side, near the hole: DVD+R burned in.

 

Yes, I have been ripped off, 40 disks that are not readable on every computer!

for very cost effective generic blank and branded DVD recordable media, there is a great range to choose from. I have been using a brand called Shintaro that offers a white face enabling direct printing onto it, compatable with printers that have the ability to feed DVD and cradle through.

 

There are many bulk packages of recordable DVD and CD media where there is a 10% reading/writing error rate, say every 10 discs 1 is possibly faulty, this is usually due to poor quality control in the manufacturing stage and or/packaging handling stage and it can become expensive and time consuming for end users who can't return once you've burned..

 

So some say buy individually packaged recordable media for reliability, although far more expensive in the long run, i had good runs with the Shintaro product, but people are always scepticle of new brand names. I tried them in 2002 and still OK.
