Premium Members Tammy Jones Posted May 7, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 7, 2006 Any advice on the drop time for a golf cart mount? Should the drop time change if it is windy? Is a heavier camera better? The shot will be following a bicyclist who is in pursuit of a jogger. Thanks, Tamara
Premium Members Guido Lux Posted May 7, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 7, 2006 Hi Mikko! That's a tough one!You have to find the perfect middle! If its windy you'd use more droptime but then the inertia of the sled will catch up with you when accellerating and braking! You really have to try!If you don't need a perfect start or stop, give it more droptime!! My 2 cents! Guido "Mr.Golfcart" Lux PS: Or try it with a handsfree...
Premium Members Benjamin Treplin Posted May 7, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 7, 2006 Hi Tamara, I can only recommend to have the sled neutral. When hard mounted you have no immediate control over acceleration, changing directions and speed like soft mounted or on a handsfree. Therefore you are not able to compensate the pendular movement of your rig in the same direct way. You are always to late. Having the rig neutral solves this. Because your are not moving and navigating by your self you can fully concentrate on composition, operating and keeping level. Antlers are also of very great help. Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted May 7, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 7, 2006 I advice to go on neutral or nearly neutral, for the reasons already stated. Your hand will be much more relaxed when you don't need to counter the swing of the rig, giving you much finer control of operating.

Premium Members Tammy Jones Posted May 12, 2006 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted May 12, 2006 Thanks for the tips. I kept the camera heavy and balanced it neutral. No wind. The shots worked great... exactly what they wanted. Hard mount is sure the way to go for running shots! Tamara
