Hello Everyone,

I am wondering what are your experiences with the Volt with a rig going off balance, typically using lenses with a big glass displacement, film inside the mags etc...

In the case of film, do you do a quick rebalance between each take even on short takes? And would this be a big concern on long takes?

Thank you

The Volt can handle a great deal of imbalance - it handles wind loads very well.

For the big glass shifts, you'll have to crank up the tilt strength.

Of course, a constant correction of imbalance will require more power - hence the typical work to get the sled in neutral balance for most shooting - less work for the motors to do.

I think there are some videos on FlySteadicam of the Volt with wind and maybe one with an IMAX (??).

Thanks for the FlySteadicam mention Jerry. The test we made with the Imax was with a Volt on an Ultra 2 and the Volt was able to negate approximately 80% of the side to side offset caused by the film transfer. So that meant that the sled could be balanced so that the operator needed a little bit of side hand pressure at the beginning of the mag and a little bit at the end with the Volt doing all the compensation for the most part.
