My apologies if this is already a topic on the Forum, but I was curious as to if there are any pros/cons of using either type of gimbal handle, other than obviously having more of an area to hold for longer handles. Is it just personal preference on feel, or are there benefits to having one over the other for certain shots or for how you move with the rig?

Thanks

I use an XCS gimbal with an Ergo handle. While the Ergo handle has the added benefit of having the same hand position for high or low mode, any long handle will likely give you a better view of your monitor and be more comfortable.

Longer gimbal arms, for me, was a "better to have and not need" situation. Mounting gimbal arm zoom/focus controls works far better with longer gimbal arms, but also just using it naked just gives you a tiny bit of versatility that pays off in the long run. Hand clearance, monitor clearance, rig positioning, etc.

I love the short gimbal from the older PRO days. I'm tempted to make one/buy one (does one exist?) for my Volt.

The input to the rig and the feedback from the rig just seems "more correct" with a short handle.
