Premium Members Michael Stumpf Posted June 12, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 12, 2006 there's a channel called MTV that's been around for a while. yeah, but did MTV start playing videos again like they did back in the 80's and early 90's or are they all about reality shows still... like they became in the late 90's Plus, MTV and BET might as well blend, last I saw, MTV was playing more Yo, Yo Yo hip hop videos than BET, but that was still only the occasional video caught between hours and hours of teen angst reality shows. Even so, IMHO sitting around watching videos these days is such a waste. At least there is some interesting things to watch on TV, music videos are not one of them. Interesting stuff, I've seen the nike spot you did quite a few times, nice work. I take it you were using a quad or something for the fast running shots ? -matt
Premium Members Brad Grimmett Posted June 13, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 13, 2006 A lot of kids are watching videos all the time. The difference is that most of them are watching them online. I was speaking to a record company person a month or two ago and they said that yahoo music and aol are the way most people see videos since they can find the exact video they want to see whenever they want to see it. Yahoo and AOL even have exclusive deals for some videos, much like MTV used to have. The world of music videos has changed a lot in the last few years. Premium Members Sven Joukes Posted June 13, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 13, 2006 Over here (Europe) watching music videos is just impossible with all the crap the networks are superimposing over the actual image. Network logo in the upper corner, program title scrolling underneath that and a 'king size' lower third filled with SMS games, chats etc... So no matter how interesting, well found or refreshing a video is, you just can't see it underneath all that crap. Sven

Premium Members Lars Erik Posted June 14, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 14, 2006 Somehow a decent thread about steadicam in music videos ended up with someone beating up on it without very constructive criticism. Don't get that. LE
