Buster Arrieta Posted May 28, 2006 Report Share Posted May 28, 2006 ALL, thinking about converting the EFP CRT to a LCD monitor. those with a EFP and who have converted to LCD, would you kindly mind telling me whats involved and if you can do it yourself? are there different bracket options for the EFP or is it only one or two? im interested in HD monitoring. search queries did not turn up the info i am looking for. thanks kindly in advance.... Premium Members Jason Williams Posted May 28, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 28, 2006 Hi Buster, I'm in a very similar situation - I have an original EFP with original post and monitor arm (check this thread for details of how to remove the post - http://www.steadicamforum.com/forums/index...=0entry18195). I've bought an LCD, which requires a new monitor arm - and the problem is, it clamps on to the lower post, and when tightended it squashes the post together, so I'm looking at getting a new post as well (would much prefer carbon fibre any way). I did try and knock up a little convertor - to use the original EFP clamp with the wedge in the back, but didn't bother as it was likely to make the arm unstable. The info on the Monitor Arm is on the Web Site www.xcsinc.com As for the monitor I went with the 7" Color LCD from Tiffen NTSC/PAL 700 nit/framelines/16x9/4x3. I purchased it thru Peter Abraham. I wanted to thank the guys at Tiffen who rushed the monitor out to me on Thursday. Peter and I had it up and running for the first GMA Concert of the Summer on Friday. Premium Members Rob Vuona SOC Posted August 26, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 26, 2006 Hey Buster, XCS is one way to go along with MK-V for the replacement monitor arm, the MK-V looks way cooler with all those holes drilled in it . . . .LOL . . . I machined my own because like it was said before it crushes your bottom post and inhibits it from sliding smoothly, but if you drill a hole in the back of the collar that attaches to the lower post it will help the crushing and keep it from rotating on you. As far as the monitor goes, the tiffen 7" is nice the , The MK-V seems nice and the Boland 6.5 is suppossed to be out in Sept.
